Install mods and plugins safely

1. Stop the server and create a backup first, from the Backups tab.
2. Check that the mod or plugin supports your game version and your server type. A mismatch is the most common cause of crashes.
3. Upload it to the correct folder, usually mods or plugins, using the Files tab or SFTP.
4. Start the server and read the console. A clear error message normally names the file that failed.
5. Add one mod at a time when troubleshooting. If the server will not start, remove the last addition or restore the backup.
6. Heavy mods need more memory. If memory stays near its limit, upgrade from Change plan on your server page.

Never share your password, a bot token, a private key or card details with anyone, including Hartwell staff.
